Head-torches
During the darker nights
of winter we still love to get out on to the trails and top up our “Billinge tan” and a key bit of kit is the head torch.
PETZL ACTIK CORE
With three Brightness settings including a red light and boasting 350 lumen brightness it really is a great entry level head torch.
“ Once I knew I loved night running I bought the petzl actik as an entry level head torch. Very comfortable to wear, I usually wear a head buff under it, three settings which are easy to adjust whilst running and good battery performance. It also has a little whistle in the adjuster which wouldn’t pass a kit check but is better than nothing in an emergency. I’ve used it for over 5 years and it’s still going strong.”
Petzl IKO
The Petzl Iko is unique in its design and has plenty of extra uses. The head strap and battery layout means that there is very little weight on the actual light which means minimal bouncing when running. Its top setting of 500 lumens means its very bright and the LED light field also gives it fantastic light distribution. It also packs down into a small carry bag that doubles and as lantern for camping.
“Ive used the IKO for a couple of years now and its been a game changer, its so light it doesn’t create any stress around my head, the light is amazing.”
SILVA
Trail runner free 400 lumens
With a 400 lumen brightness and the option on a recharbale battery pack and rear light its great for trail and road running to keep your self noticed.
“Great mid range head torch with enough light for easy trails. It has a red light at the back to aid visibility. The torch doesn’t feel bulky and fits really nice which is great for trail running. Its lightweight and packs well.”
Petzl Nao RL
The NAO® RL rechargeable headlamp provides 1500 lumens of brightness and weighs just 145 grams. Comfortably balanced, the headband is easily adjustable and maintains excellent support throughout long and committing races.
“Genuinely one of the best head torches I have ever used - because of the wide and focused beam.”
